We at Partners In Progress are in touch with Brethren in Albania where the refugees from Kosovo are being taken. They report that food, clothing and blankets are desperately needed.
I write this to ask you and your congregation to make a special contribution to assist these thousands who are being moved to "tent Cities". CNN reported that Albania is the poorest nation in Europe and yet the refugees are being sent there where even the Albanian people are lacking basic staples of living.
Just as we did duing the Polish crisis when we fed the thousands and later in Ethiopia, we are staging a relief project. $100,000 is needed immediately.
The church in Tirana which we were instrutmental in gettng started, is doing all they can do. They ask us to help them meet this need and to use it not only to do a worth while huanitarian work but also to use it as an evangelistic tool. Bibles and tracts along with Correspondence course coupons, will be distributed with the supplies we take.
The local Christians are to let us know today if we can purchase the needed commodities in Tirana or if we must again organize a convoy of trucks for Northern Greece.
Even though the airports have been closed, we are planning to go to Albania in the next few days to begin putting this relief project in place. We will fly into the nearest airport and drive in.
Please help the church in Albania meet the needs of these desperate people and share the gospel with them at the same time.
