From Don Yelton of White's Ferry Road Church of Christ:
April 5, 1999
Dear brethren,
The horrors of WAR are in our midst again. Because of the news media my mind is driven to pictures of the World War II death camps and the holocaust. This time we can and we must do something to help.
Our brethren in Belgrade are hiding in their cellars with their sick and wounded even as bombs fall around them. Poor Christians in Albania from at least two of the three churches of Christ are already sharing what they have with refugees from Kosovo. They can buy food and clothes cheaper in Albania than we can pay for the shipping. They beg for our help.
Bill McDonough of Partners in Progress, a church of Christ humanitarian organization in Little Rock, Arkansas and I will travel to Tirana, Albania this week to deliver funds to Christians there and help with the organizing. Our message to the Christians in Albania is that HOPE is the greatest gift and worth more than the vitally needed food and medical supplies.
For nearly twenty years we have worked successfully with Partners in Progress and other Church of Christ organizations to bring hope, food and medical supplies to needy people throughout the world. Please help Christians in Albania and other countries help the victims of this war. Please remember the work of these Christians and the need of the refugees in your prayers.
The need is urgent. The time is now. Please help. We will be grateful for any contribution, but we ask for $1,000 from your congregation if possible. Please send your checks to:
3201 North Seventh Street,
West Monroe, Louisiana 71291
and mark it for "Kosovo".
A servant of Christ,
Don Yelton
