Notes: Seeking a church that is also seeking the Kingdom of God; a church that follows God in their tent rather than standing self-secure in a temple. I am interested in preaching the word, which is our present source of "wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus" 2 Tim 3:15. As such, I rarely preach topical sermons, preferring that God determine the program, mood, and message according to what He has already inspired to be written. I am not a politician; God has called us to holiness, which invites trouble from the mind of the world. I am willing and able to serve as a member of the congregational leadership team of men who are radical disciples of Christ Jesus who was crucified. Ultimately, I hope to serve to edify and encourage brethren in Christ to build up each other as each one fulfills their God-given role until we all reach unity in the faith according to the measure of the pattern established by o!
ur Leader, Jesus. Such unity in brotherly love is the light by which God’s lost ones will find Him through us and the salt which will help to stay God’s hand of judgment until all of His lost ones are found. Earliest date Available: 9/1/08

Notes: Dear Sir,
My name is David Bright. Thank you for taking the time to read my resume. I wanted to tell you a little more about myself to give you a more complete picture of who you are looking at. I was born and raised in the Central San Joaquin Valley in California. My mother is a day care teacher and my father is retired from the agriculture industry. I grew up in the First Baptist Church in Tulare CA. I was involved in many different programs at that church. I was in the Youth Group Leadership Council, Vacation Bible School Volunteer, the traveling Youth Choir; I was on the Mission Team that went to Mazatlan, Mexico, and I was a leader for the Puppet ministry.
After High School I went to college and I joined the Cheerleading Team at Fresno State University. I was a part of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Fresno State but my walk with the Lord wasn’t where it should be in college. In fact my life wasn’t going where it should go at that time.
Then I met this girl named Amy Reagan (who is now my wife) who invited me to go to church with her. It is called the Ashlan Avenue Church of Christ in Fresno. From the first time I walked in there I fell in love with the Church of Christ, and I also came back to God. I studied, I prayed, and I was baptized in the Church. After that, I began getting that passion for working for the Lord. I saw what the Lord did in my life and I wanted God to use me to do the same in the lives of others. So in 2002 I began the process of preaching in the church; planning events for the church; and helping how I could in the church on a daily basis.
I then began the TEXOMA program. This is a correspondence course from the Texas/Oklahoma area that was put on by the Church of Christ in that area and Brother Quinton Gage. The study included chapters on each book in the New Testament, chapters on evangelism, sermon preparation, public speaking, public prayer, Church Growth and Development, Follow – Up Work, Hermeneutics, and Ascertaining Bible Authority.
After completing that course and tests I was given my ordainment into the ministry in August of 2006. I began working fulltime for the church the following December. All together I have been working for this church voluntary and full time for over five years. In that time I have began an annual Couples Retreat, a Men’s Retreat, a weekly Family Bible Study, a weekly bible study at Fresno State University, a weekly bible study at several of our local high schools in conjunction with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, a visitation program for our elders, an annual Valentine’s Sweetheart Dinner, and a 42 day study called “Back to the Basics”, and I have been preaching as much as I possibly can.
Also, I have gotten the opportunity to travel and speak at different meetings around the country:
Colbert, OK Fresno, CA Tulare, CA Bakersfield, CA
Delano, CA Sepulveda, CA Atascadero, CA Baton Rouge, LA
Spearsville, LA West Monroe, LA Pasadena, TX Urbana, AR
El Dorado, AR
I know that there are people out there that are more qualified and more experienced, but there is no one out there that knows what God can do for them as well as me, he has saved me and I want to share that with EVERYBODY I can.
Amy and I are looking forward to meeting you, introducing you to our wonderful daughter Olivia, and showing you our passion in our work for the Lord.
Again, thank you for allowing me the time to show you a little more about me. Along with this letter and my resume I am also attaching my plan for growth in the church. It is just a few ideas that I think can be used to not only enhance the church and bring in new people but it can make the existing congregation stronger and more willing to get involved. May the Lord bless you in your search and we hope to hear from you soon.
God Bless
David Bright
-5 Point Plan for Growth-
Just think of the Vowels (A, E, I, O, U)
Accountability
EVERYONE should be keeping EVERYONE accountable for many things:
There Christian Lives
Scripture Memorization
Inviting People to Church
Attending Church
WE are in this dark world together and we have to hold the light up for each other to get through this.
If we, as a church, set a GOAL…We need to meet it!
Goals – I have started a list of GOALS that every church should try and obtain!
Education
We should ALL strive to learn as much as we can
The Bible
Other Christian Literature
Other Religions
Arguments of the World
How can we stand up in this world if we don’t know what we’re fighting for?
Education should be a key foundation piece so that the Church can build
Felt Board and Stories for kids all the way to a Course on Evangelism for adults.
Interaction
Fellowship HAS to be part of a church if growth is to happen.
New People – Should be greeted and talked to by at least 3 people in the congregation. If they build 3 relationships they are more likely to come back.
Congregation – The congregations should be meeting outside the normal church times at least twice a month.
We should be Fellowshipping with other congregations in the area to build not just OUR church but to build THE church in the community.
Ownership
If a person feels that they are part of a church they will participate…
BUT if a person feels that the CHURCH is part of them they will live and die for it...
Ownership in the church is giving EVERY member a responsibility to go with their gifts.
People are more likely to work hard for the church if they feel that it is their CHURCH!!!!
EVERYONE should have a story of HOW God has changed their life…and they should WANT to share it!
Unconventional Means
The world is different place than it was 10 years ago…the church has to be sensitive to that when we are ministering to the community.
This isn’t saying change our doctrine…just our methods.

When Jesus started looking for his twelve Apostles, he didn’t look in the Jewish synagogues for the finely dressed, righteous acting scribes and pharisees. Jesus didn’t look for his twelve among the rich rulers and popular public speakers of his day. No, Jesus looked for twelve men who were living and working in the humbler walks of life. Five were fishermen, one was of the despised publicans, and the occupations of the others are not mentioned. All, but Judas, were from Galilee and none of the original twelve received higher education. Acts 2:7 This should tell us something when looking at our brethren. The Lord often uses some of the most humble and meek brethren to carry out his grand eternal purposes. "...not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called… that no flesh should glory in his presence." 1Cor. 1:26-29 These twelve men of humble means were chosen to live with the most magnificent of all God s creation, His only begotten Son!
I would never assume the characteristics of the Apostles, I only wish to preach the Gospel to the glorification of God. Notes: I am 56 years old and strongly believe that it is time for a new turn in my life.
I have been a member of the Church of Christ all my life. I was born into a church family and was baptised at the age of 14. Although I have no formal preaching experience, I feel I would do a fine job if given an opportunity, this is a calling that I believe the Lord is guiding me to. I am a very personable man with excellant people skills. I have a very good bible based knowledge and I feel the gathering of souls to the glory of God to be the our prime directive as we were instructed by our Lord to go into all the world. Given the chance I would like for us to grow together in the Lord. Money isn't as important as the need for a house and I wouldn't expect a large salary with the qualifications I have. I thank you for taking the time to read this and would enjoy hearing from you. in Christian love, Kenn Earliest date Available: as needed very little noticed is required

Notes:
Dear Brethren,
This is my first letter of introduction in my almost 40 years of ministry; a letter that attempts to start a dialogue that could lead to a major move on my part and create a new relationship within the Lord’s church. In times past, the moves that I have made have been a result of contact from an Eldership with a specific need. So, forgive me if my approach seems a bit awkward. This is also my first attempt at a resume in 40 years, so if you need additional information, don’t hesitate to ask. It is my feeling that this letter of intent will give you enough information about me for you to decide whether any further contact is necessary. May God bless your congregation’s search for a pulpit minister and my search for a pulpit to fill.
The purpose of this letter is twofold; I would first like to let you know what I am looking for in a relationship with a congregation. Secondly, I will attempt to explain what I feel that I can offer in return.
I am looking for a relationship with a group of Elders - not an employer/employee agreement but as part of a team. I understand submission to an Eldership as I myself have served in that capacity and have no problem with submission in the relationship. What I am saying here is that I desire a relationship, not just a job.
I am looking to build relationships within the Body. I am a very hands-on minister - not a professional preacher. By this I mean that I do develop personal relationships with the flock where I preach. I expect to be involved in their lives and to have them involved in mine. I will be there to cry when they cry and to rejoice when they rejoice and I will not do that from afar. My formal training is in the area of counseling and I am most willing to exercise that training. I feel my strongest God-given gifts are in that area. I also believe that helping others find their gifts and develop them is a part of God’s plan for my life.
I have a strong desire to seek and save the lost. In my opinion, there are two kinds of churches. The first is what I call an “Outreach Church”. These churches are constantly looking for ways to meet the needs of their neighbors so that they can earn the right to sit with them and discuss how Jesus can make a difference in their lives. These churches welcome the unwed mothers, drug addicts, alcoholics, black folks, white folks, and all the rest. They welcome folks who are just getting out of prison and the folks that might well wind up there, if someone does not introduce them to the Savior. The “In-Reach Church” is the kind of church where everyone pretty much looks alike and has the same interests and about the same level of income. They are busy doing good works, but very few folks are won to Jesus and no one seems to notice as long as some visiting missionary doesn’t bring the subject up. They tend to lose members from time to time with no idea of where they went o!
r why. The goal in “In-Reach Churches” seems to be taking care of the brethren by providing a vibrant, exciting worship experience, an awesome youth program, biblically sound Bible classes, and a visionary foreign missions policy - they have something going on 24/7 to keep the saved, saved.
I thank God for both, the “In-Reach” and “Outreach” churches. I do want to be a part of a congregation with a vibrant, exciting worship experience, an awesome youth program, biblically sound Bible classes, and a vision for foreign missions with something going on 24/7 for the members. I also want to be a part of a congregation that has a heart for the lost and dying world around them and is interested in reaching that lost and dying world. I am interested in being a part of a congregation that wants a minister that is involved not only in the lives of the members, but is also involved in the lives of those who do not yet know the victory found in Jesus.
Brethren, if you too have a vision for the lost and want a minister who will go out of his way to “go into the street corners an invite them into the banquet, both the good and the bad” (Matt. 22:9), then perhaps we need to discuss further how we, together, can keep the saved, saved while seeking and saving the lost in your community.
In Him,
Dr. Henry M. Petree

Experience: I have been preaching 3-4 Sundays a month since 1998 mostly for 2 congregations: Central Church of Christ in Rupert, Idaho(ended in 2005)and Albion Church Of Christ (currently). Among preaching responsibilities I also have taught and are currently teaching adult Bible class, teen classes, and special small group Bible studies (home studies, nursing homes). I have lead youth groups in the past as well as conducted youth rallies. I have always been a leader and the driver of all congregational fellowship and outreach programs and have a great gift and desire for bringing Christians together and helping them put their "family of God" as a priority and need in their life. I have for the past 6 years produced the congregations bulletin which contain outlines for my sermon and a preacher's page which I write.
Notes: I have never had the opportunity to be in full time (paid) ministry due to the need for financial support for my family from secular work. I have advanced in every profession I have been in with the sole problem being such advancement requires a career commitment I refuse to make as my gift and calling is to lead people, both believers and non believers, to a deeper more committed, and personal relationship with God. I married shortly after highschool and began my family shortly after that so the demands of life and going off to school have been tough. I must mention as well that my (first) wife during this time fell away from her relationship to Christ and her commitment to me and our children after 6 years- which lead her to another man and us to a divorce. I have recently remarried a wonderful woman, Shauna. I am a man of love and grace and have found myself burned in my trusting others, but resolve to protect my children from harm and to do what is God's best for them while here. We do have customdy of both my children- Abigail, 8 and Adam, 4 and wherever we go, so shall they. I have taken some schooling online, only to see the demands of my full time job both secular and the church, combined with the need of my children and new wife, to have their Dad and Husband, fall through. My desire is to further my education while growing in God's ministry for me without the strain of also being pulled by a secular career. I assure you if you come to know just how gifted a woker I am,you will understand why every business I work in quickly advances me. Currently I am prayfully and dilegently seeking out what opportunity God has planned for me at this time. I do have secular employment in upper management with a local newspaper to provide for my family's needs but feel it is time to put to work fully the gift of God that He entrusted to me without outside distractions. I can provide tapes or videos of recent sermons to demonstrate the gift God has placed in me. I have since a child, had a gift which everyone has seen and appreciated. Instead of advancing secular companies my desire is to advance God's people, His church, and watch people produce eternal rewards instead of worldly ones. My strengths are preaching that reaches and inspires all age groups; hard work and dedication that leads to success; evangelism which comes from my desire for the salvation of the lost; teaching, writing, organizing and leading our youth. My greatest gift I can share is a very intimate and personal relationship with God the Father through Jesus Christ which has come through much time in prayer and the Word. Please inquire if you have questions concerning my past employment, ministry, or current position with the church in Abion. I pray that God will lead you in His way and will lead me where He has purposed for me to go. God's blessings to you!
