History of Belmont Church of Christ/Description of Congregation and Facility
Belmont Church of Christ was founded in 1953. The original chapel that was built served as the main worship area for the congregation. The church began to grow and the leadership decided to expand and add a new auditorium in 1966. The original chapel facility now serves as a worship area for our youth ministry. The auditorium seats 350 people and is outfitted with audio/visual equipment to enhance services. Other features include 9 classrooms that serve our youth, a baby nursery and toddler nursery. A full service kitchen and large adjoining fellowship area have been modernized and refurbished with updated restrooms and has been well maintained over the years. Belmont has historically been a very generous congregation, uses its funds wisely, and is debt free.
The average Sunday attendance is 125. The congregation's leadership consists of two Elders and two Deacons. A large percentage of the congregation is age 50 years or older. The strength in the Belmont congregation lies in these mature members. For the long term viability of this congregation, we believe it is important to focus on attracting young families with children.
